| March 20, 2009 2010 Old Boys and Old Girls Reunion news As everyone knows in our fast-paced world, time flies. Keeping that in mind, Gilman’s 2010 Old Boys and Old Girls (OBOG) committee is shifting into high gear for next year’ s reunion. If not the oldest, Gilman’s every-five-year reunion is among the oldest town get- together’s in the entire country. Other towns have annual dances and sales or whatever, but nothing compares to Gilman’s homecoming. According to 2010 OBOG committee secretary, Cindy Guttendorf, at last week’s meeting, “Treasure Your Heritage” was selected on motion and unanimous vote for the 2010 OBOG theme. The artwork for the OBOG plate will include a rendering (picture) of the old bank building near the south end of the Central Street business district in Gilman. Committee members also approved a motion to reserve from the same company that provided the horses and carriage for the last reunion, to reserve a trolley and stagecoach for the 2010 event. Like anything of this magnitude, it’s difficult at times to get the community involved. The 2010 has more than 20 committee slots that they need filled. Everything from the Beard Contest to the Style Show to a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. The 2010 OBOG reunion is on August 12-15, 2010. Future 2010 OBOG committee meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the Gilman City Hall. Get involved in history—involve yourself with the Old Boys and the Old Girls.
